Gentle Prowess Deliberations by Mariángeles Soto-Díaz
About
Gentle Prowess Deliberations is an installation created by multimedia artist Mariángeles Soto-Díaz to explore the judo concept of ju, or gentle, to address larger philosophical and socio-cultural ideas. The kinetic presence of the judo practitioners and dance performers are framed within Soto-Díaz’s evocative installation. Charlotte Griffin served as a collaborator in this work, bringing to life Soto-Díaz's movement provocations and improvising with visual artist Christina Segovia in the November and December 2022 performances at the Grand Central Arts Center in Santa Ana, California.
